
Dr. Thornton grew up in Manito, IL. She attended Illinois State University earning her Bachelor’s degree in agriculture and then attended the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine where she earned her DVM in 2022. Throughout college, she worked at veterinary clinics and spent several years working in a dog shelter where she grew a passion for rescue animals.
Shortly after graduation, Dr. Thornton worked at a mixed animal practice doing large and small animal medicine. She really enjoys patient care, small animal surgery, preventative care, and building relationships with clients and their pets.
Dr. Thornton met her husband while attending the U of I, and they were married shortly after graduation in 2022. In their free time, they enjoy spending time with family and friends, gardening, traveling, and watching Illini basketball. At home they have a black lab named Maggie and two cats, Mike and Barry.
